How we do it

Established in 1982, it was the earliest of the projects. For more than 40 years, it upheld the doctor’s commitment to science, particularly pharmacology, and to his country.

From the beginning, the Foundation was conceived as a laboratory, not for mixing chemical compounds, but for bringing together scientists and researchers.
The expected “reaction” was the generation and transfer of knowledge in pharmacology, a premise that defined the Foundation under the direction of Sergi Erill Sáez (1983–2009).

This collaborative framework with the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Barcelona serves as a scientific space for developing research and knowledge‑transfer activities aimed primarily at researchers and subject‑matter experts.

The Chair continues the mission of promoting research and inherits the doctor’s passion and commitment to science, particularly pharmacology. His dedication to the discipline led him to carry out various research projects and publish scientific works with the hope of leaving future generations all possible opportunities for continuing the work he had begun and contributing to the development of modern therapeutics for the benefit of society.

This is the challenge embraced by the Chair, which is firmly committed to research and the transfer of knowledge.

An international and independent jury is responsible for selecting the best scientific article in pharmacological research published by a Spanish author in a prestigious international journal.

The article may address any aspect of basic and/or clinical pharmacology (design, synthesis, formulation development, clinical or laboratory evaluation, use…).

We promote the creation of publications—in various formats and collections—and scientific articles, always in collaboration with experts. Since 1982, we have produced more than 125 publications with the goal of contributing to the generation and dissemination of scientific knowledge.
