Awards
The Dr. Antoni Esteve Foundation has promoted two types of awards:
Research Award
The Research Award was created in 1989 to stimulate high‑quality research and recognize scientific excellence in pharmacology. Across its 18 editions, the prize honored the best scientific article in pharmacological research published by a spanish author in a prestigious international journal.
An international and independent jury selected the winning proposals and evaluated studies across all domains of basic and/or clinical pharmacology, from drug design and synthesis to formulation development, clinical or laboratory evaluation, and therapeutic use. The award carried a €25,000 prize.
Rooted in the scientific legacy of Dr. Antoni Esteve i Subirana, the award consistently upheld standards of excellence, rigor, and support for emerging research talent.
Health Journalism Award
In 2022 and 2023, the Dr. Antoni Esteve Foundation promoted the Health Journalism Award, organized in partnership with the Catalan Association for Science Communication. The prize recognized outstanding health‑related journalistic articles written by journalists from the Ibero‑American region.
